The Ecological Society is one of Pune's most respected environmental education nonprofits, with decades of expertise in ecology, conservation, and sustainable living. It has always had the two things that matter most — deep knowledge and passionate educators. What it lacked was a proper way to deliver that knowledge to the students, professionals, and citizens who wanted it.
Non-profit and EdTech
For years, all of the Society's educational content lived on YouTube. On the surface it seemed convenient, but in practice it quietly held the mission back at every turn.
Videos floated across channels and playlists with no order, so a newcomer had no idea what to watch first or where to go next.
Every new topic meant recording another standalone video from scratch, because there was no way to create a reusable course structure.
YouTube gave no meaningful sense of who had completed what, so learners lost the thread of their own progress and the team had no view of engagement or dropout.
There were no quizzes to confirm understanding, no assignments to apply ideas, and no recognised certificate to reward the effort.
Without deadlines or reminders, people drifted away halfway through a playlist, and the Society had no way to bring them back.
Questions in the comments went unanswered, and there was little room for learners to talk, collaborate, or solve problems together.
Material aged quickly as environmental science evolved, while ads, notifications, and recommended videos constantly pulled learners toward unrelated content.
The Frappe LMS implementation answered every one of these problems directly, and the difference was felt almost immediately.
Clear learning journeys — scattered videos became sequenced courses with a defined beginning, middle, and end, so learners always know their next step.
Reusable course creation — the Society now builds a course structure once and reuses it, cutting the effort of content production dramatically.
Real assessment and recognition — quizzes and assignments let learners test what they know, and a meaningful certificate rewards them at the finish.
Restored accountability — progress tracking and reminders keep learners on track, so far fewer abandon a course midway.
True visibility — for the first time, analytics show how learners move through the material and exactly where they struggle.
Genuine guidance and community — instructor feedback and learner discussions replaced silent, unanswered comments with real conversation.
Distraction-free focus — learning now happens on the Society's own platform, free of the ads and recommendations that once pulled learners away.
We delivered a complete Frappe LMS implementation, purpose-configured for the Society's environmental education mission — transforming years of unstructured video content into a managed, measurable, and fully owned learning platform.
We followed a structured delivery model: discovery and content mapping, LMS configuration and course architecture design, content migration and course structuring, assessment and certificate setup, community and discussion configuration, analytics and reporting setup, user training, and a coordinated go-live with post-launch support.
Designed and configured a complete course structure that gives every piece of content a defined place in a sequenced learning journey.
Implemented quizzes, assignments, and a certificate workflow so learner understanding is tested and rewarded at every stage.
Deployed progress tracking and analytics that give the Society its first real view of how learners move through the material.
Configured deadline management and automated reminders to keep learners engaged and reduce mid-course dropout.
Set up discussion forums and instructor feedback channels to replace the silence of YouTube comments with real conversation.
